Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, also known as KCR, has come up with a plan to secure all 14 Assembly constituencies in the old Mahbubnagar district. This district has been a battleground for TPCC chief A Revanth Reddy and BJP senior leader DK Aruna, who are trying to establish their political dominance in the upcoming State Assembly elections.

While Revanth Reddy, DK Aruna, and Congress veteran Nagam Janardhan Reddy are preparing for the elections in the district, KCR is making strategic moves to ensure that his party, BRS, maintains its stronghold. The recent defections of BRS leader Jupally Krishna Rao and MLC K Damodar Reddy to the Congress have prompted the pink party leadership to take action and minimize the damage.

Survey reports suggest that the Congress is gaining strength and BRS may face challenges due to growing anti-incumbency in some Assembly segments. In the 2018 elections, BRS won 13 out of the 14 seats, with Congress MLA B Harshwardhan Reddy later switching sides to join KCR. However, Krishna Rao has now emerged as a strong Congress leader in the segment, making the upcoming polls more competitive. Legislators from Alampur, Gadwal, Kodangagal, Devarakadra, Achampet, and Makthal are also facing difficulties due to various factors and public criticism.

KCR has already assessed the political situation in these segments and warned the MLAs to work hard and gain people’s confidence before the elections. On the other hand, Revanth Reddy aims to win from his home turf in Kodangal, while Aruna is determined to prove herself in Gadwal. Nagam is prepared to fight from Nagarkurnool, where BRS legislator M Janardhan Reddy holds influence. These leaders have maintained their dominance in the old Mahbubnagar district due to their roles in previous governments in Andhra Pradesh. KCR’s challenge is to select winning candidates for all segments and emerge victorious.

Based on election survey reports, a few MLAs may be replaced with strong leaders. KCR’s strategy was successful in the 2018 assembly polls when he defeated Revanth and Aruna. The same strategy will be used to overcome the entire Opposition in the critical assembly elections, according to party leaders.
