Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose is investigating alleged irregularities in the Medigadda project, which has come under scrutiny after cracks appeared in the piers. Retired engineers from the Irrigation department have submitted a report to the commission, claiming that the project was K Chandrasekhar Rao’s idea and that the cost doubled due to design changes.

The engineers also stated that the Tummidihatti project was ignored in favor of the Medigadda barrage, despite their recommendation to proceed with Tummidihatti. The commission is looking into the sub-contract system used in construction and may examine financial records of the agencies involved. The Registrar of Companies may be asked for expenditure data.
