    The State government has given money to farmers whose crops were damaged by unseasonal rains earlier this year. They have given Rs 25.06 crore to farmers in Khammam district who were affected. The government has given a total of Rs 151.64 crore to farmers in 26 districts whose crops were damaged by heavy rains and hailstorms, affecting 1.51 lakh acres of land.

    The Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao, visited the affected areas in March and announced a relief of Rs 10,000 per acre to help those affected. He also said that tenant farmers would receive compensation too.

    The crops that were affected in Khammam district were maize, paddy, and others, including horticulture crops. The damage affected around 18,258 farmers on 23,632.17 acres of land. In Kothagudem district, crops on 143.10 acres of land were also damaged, affecting 1,978 farmers.

    The District RythuBandhu Samithi president, NalamalaVenkateswara Rao, thanked the Chief Minister on behalf of the district farmers for releasing the relief package of Rs 25.06 crore. He said that Rs 23.63 crore had been allocated for the Khammam district and Rs 1.43 crore had been released for Kothagudem. The money will be credited into the accounts of the farmers in about 10 days.
