Telangana BJP chief and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy has challenged the State government to order a CBI investigation into the corruption allegations in the Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP). He expressed doubts about any agreement between Congress and BRS. Reddy mentioned that BRS leaders praised KLIP as an engineering marvel and considered former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao the de facto chief engineer of the project. He also reminded that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had promised to investigate corruption charges and scandals when Congress came to power.
Reddy accused the BRS government of keeping project details secret and avoiding the National Dam Safety Authority’s queries to hide their incompetence and irregularities. He suspected that Congress and the BRS government had sympathy for corruption, as both had a history of looting public money. Reddy claimed that corruption and Congress were inseparable, with many scams occurring since independence.
According to Reddy, the State government, fearing its fall due to a thin majority, is acting in a way that benefits KCR’s party. There are suspicions that an understanding has been reached between the former CM and the present CM with the mediation of the MIM. The conduct of Congress, with ministers ending their tours after just presentations, adds credibility to these suspicions.
Reddy posed questions to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, asking if he would order a CBI probe into KLIP corruption and if he was willing to write to the Centre for it. He demanded answers from the CM and assured that the Centre would start its probe within 48 hours of receiving the government letter. Reddy also extended New Year greetings to the people and congratulated ISRO on its recent space mission, making Indians proud of their achievements. He believes that 2024 will be renowned as the year of Gaganyan.
