Telangana BJP Chief and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, along with other party members, were detained by the police during a 24-hour hunger strike protest at Dharna Chowk in Hyderabad. The protest was organized to express grievances about the treatment of unemployed youth under the BRS government in the state. This caused tension at the protest site, and there was shouting and confrontation between the police and BJP supporters.

During the confrontation, G. Kishan Reddy was injured and fell unconscious. The police detained him and took him away from the protest site. Tarun Chugh, BJP National General Secretary and Telangana in-charge, Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and other state party leaders also participated in the protest. Tarun Chugh strongly condemned what he called the “illegal arrest” of Kishan Reddy.

According to Chugh, the BJP had obtained all the necessary permissions for the hunger strike, which was peaceful until the police intervened. He mentioned that the protest had received significant support from frustrated youth and students who were disappointed with the government’s failure to conduct fair recruitment exams or create job opportunities.

Chugh accused the police of acting out of frustration and suggested that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao deployed them to disrupt the event. He criticized the use of force during Kishan Reddy’s arrest, emphasizing that he is a union minister and a Z-grade protectee. Chugh also described the KCR government as “draconian” and claimed that peaceful protests were not allowed under its rule.

He further alleged that the police used excessive force, injuring many workers, including women, and suggested that KCR’s actions showed his fear. Chugh stated that the youth and students of Telangana were determined to bring about a change in the government, and despite facing oppression, the BJP would continue to support the unemployed.
