The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has faced criticism for a lower voter turnout compared to other areas in the State. Union Minister and Telangana BJP chief G Kishan Reddy called for a revamping of voter lists in urban areas. He expressed confidence in the party’s performance in the elections and accused officials of deleting thousands of voters in some areas.
Reddy alleged that dead voters were still on the lists while living voters were removed. He mentioned that about 3,000 votes were deleted in Shaikpet division, with many of them having voted in the recent Assembly elections. Complaints were lodged with election authorities regarding the issue.
Another incident of voter deletion was reported at a polling booth in St. Mary’s School, Vijayanagar Colony. Voters expressed frustration over the deletions and criticized the Election Commission and GHMC for not addressing the issue.
Despite these challenges, Reddy praised the party members and supporters for maintaining peace during the elections. He claimed that rural areas showed strong support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while urban areas experienced lower voter turnout due to people traveling to Andhra Pradesh.
Reddy also mentioned the Centre’s initiatives in Telangana, such as the Telangana Liberation Day celebration and the establishment of various institutions. He criticized the Chief Minister for making false claims and urged him to focus on fulfilling promises made to the public.
