Hyderabad: K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), the Working President of the BRS party, has urged the Congress government to focus on improving Hyderabad instead of creating “dramas” under the Hydra project. He reminded everyone that the previous BRS government had already launched a ₹4,000 crore sewage treatment program to ensure the city is free from dirty water.
KTR, along with local ministers and leaders, visited the construction sites of sewage treatment plants (STPs) in Kukatpally. During the visit, he criticized the Congress government for slowing down the progress on these plants. According to him, the delay is affecting the goal of making Hyderabad the first city in South Asia to treat all its sewage.
He also accused the Congress government of trying to hand over the Musi River beautification project to foreign companies. KTR claimed that large-scale corruption, worth thousands of crores, was taking place under this project. He argued that there was no need for new work on Musi’s cleaning since the STPs built by the BRS government could handle the task.
KTR further questioned the Congress government’s varying estimates for the Musi project’s cost. He insisted that the government should first assist people living near the river before demolishing their homes. He condemned the unfair treatment of the poor during demolitions, accusing the government of favoring the rich while ignoring the struggles of the less fortunate.
The BRS leader assured that his party would stand by the people affected by the demolitions and fight against any injustice. He urged the Congress government to stop creating distractions and instead focus on the real development of Hyderabad.
