YS Jagan to Visit Tirumala Temple Amid Controversy
Former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party president, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has announced that he will visit the Tirumala Venkateswara Swamy temple on September 28. Jagan plans to walk up the hill on foot to reach the temple.
This visit comes after allegations were made about the sacred Tirumala laddu prasad. Jagan’s decision is in response to comments made by current Chief Minister, Nara Chandrababu Naidu. Jagan claims that Naidu’s remarks have hurt the sanctity of the temple and its offerings.
On Wednesday, Jagan posted a tweet calling for statewide prayers. He urged people across Andhra Pradesh to participate in prayers at temples on the same day as his visit. The goal, according to Jagan, is to restore the honour of the temple and fix the damage caused by Naidu’s allegations.
The controversy began when Chandrababu Naidu claimed that the Tirumala laddu prasad had been adulterated with animal fat. This accusation has caused concern among devotees and affected the reputation of both the temple and the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
Jagan has strongly condemned these claims, calling them false and politically motivated. He accused Naidu of misleading devotees and trying to damage the temple’s reputation for personal gain.
The YSRCP leader stressed that the statewide prayers are meant to reaffirm the purity of the temple and its offerings. He believes this will help undo the harm caused by what he describes as baseless allegations.
