Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR), a former minister and current BRS Working President, celebrated National Handloom Day by honoring handloom artisans. He praised the exceptional skills of Telangana weavers, especially their ability to create sarees small enough to fit inside a matchbox.
KTR showed deep appreciation for the commitment of these workers, who have maintained their craft across generations. He expressed these sentiments on social media platform X.
He reminisced about a time when weavers faced hardships under a previous government. The BRS administration, he noted, has revitalized this sector. KTR credited Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) for launching innovative programs to bring back handloom workers who had moved to places like Surat and Bhiwandi for jobs.
KTR discussed several initiatives by the BRS government to aid weavers, such as Chenetha Mitra, Netannaku Cheyutha, Netanna Bima, Bathukamma sarees, loan waivers, and pensions. He praised the artisans’ dedication, saying their efforts have brought cultural richness to society.
