Hyderabad: On Sunday, BRS working president KT Rama Rao called for a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) focused on the Election Commission of India (ECI) rather than just the electoral rolls.
After the Election Commission’s press conference, Rama Rao expressed the need for a revision of the ECI itself. He noted, “Indeed, an SIR is necessary, but it should target the Election Commission of India.”
The BRS leader criticized the press event for failing to provide clarity. He argued that the Chief Election Commissioner’s remarks seemed more like justifications than solutions.
Rama Rao stated, “We now understand that the ECI, which should protect democracy, appears to function as an extension of the NDA. If the ECI admits to errors in the voter list, they should also own up to neglecting their responsibilities. It’s crucial to demand a change, not in the voter list, but in how the ECI is appointed. A thorough reform is needed to uphold our democratic identity.”
