Malla Reddy and Devender Reddy gave the Shrama Shakthi award to Shaik Salauddin on Labour Day. Salauddin is the founder and President of Telangana Gig and Platforms Workers Union (TGPWU). The award was given to Salauddin for his hard work in fighting for the rights of Gig and Platform Workers in India. He dedicated his award to all the Gig and Platform Workers who work hard every day to keep our cities running.
This is the first time that a Gig and Platform worker has received recognition for their work. The union workers are asking the Central and State governments to create laws that will provide Social Security benefits for all Gig and Platform workers in India.
