Adilabad: Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan urges everyone to stay alert to the rising threat of cybercrime. He warns that more individuals might become victims in the near future.
On Saturday, Mahajan spoke to the media about fifteen cybercrime cases reported in the district last week. He emphasized the importance of contacting 1930 immediately if affected by cybercrime. Reporting within the first hour, known as the “Golden Hour,” greatly increases the chances of recovering any financial loss.
The district police are actively conducting awareness programs to educate the public about these risks. Mahajan highlighted various scams such as investment fraud, loan scams, malicious APK files, social media scams, job fraud, digital scams, lottery fraud, and credit card fraud.
He advised against downloading APK files from WhatsApp groups and stressed the need to contact the police if a phone is compromised. In investment scams, victims often realize they were deceived after making payments in installments. Sharing credit card OTPs with others can also lead to financial loss, he added.
