Locals urge Congress to keep promise and lift LRS ban

Locals urge Congress to keep promise and lift LRS ban
Text Size: 100%

Locals and real estate agents in Wanaparthy are frustrated with the Congress government for not lifting the ban on the Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) as promised. People who buy small plots for various reasons are struggling to sell them due to the LRS restrictions. In the past, some real estate agents sold plots without LRS approval, causing problems for unsuspecting buyers.

They believe that if officials had intervened earlier, these issues could have been avoided. The locals are urging the government to cancel the LRS ban, only approve DTCP layouts, and prevent illegal layouts from being developed. Real estate agents also argue that lifting the LRS ban could benefit both the people and the government.

Under the previous government, owners were charged Rs 1000 per plot to cancel the LRS, but this process was not completed until 2023. Additionally, registration charges were significantly increased during the previous government’s tenure, leading to financial losses for plot owners in Wanaparthy and surrounding areas.
