Hyderabad, November 17, 2025 – L’Oréal, the world’s largest cosmetics maker, is establishing one of its biggest Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in Hyderabad, marking another significant addition to the city’s booming GCC ecosystem.
The new centre will be separate from L’Oréal’s existing India research facilities in Mumbai and Bengaluru, and will drive global technology, innovation, and research for the French group. This move intensifies competition among consumer multinationals to place technology and operations hubs in India.
Hyderabad’s Record GCC Growth in 2025
L’Oréal’s decision adds to Hyderabad’s remarkable track record in 2025, with the city adding over 70 GCCs this year alone, including more than 30 Fortune 500 companies such as Netflix, Eli Lilly, Costco, and McDonald’s.
The city has emerged as one of the world’s fastest-growing GCC destinations, now hosting over 400 Global Capability Centres across various sectors, including technology, pharmaceuticals, retail, financial services, and now beauty and cosmetics.
High-Level Focus from L’Oréal
L’Oréal has begun scouting for senior leadership, including people from its Paris headquarters. The project was a top agenda item during a visit by L’Oréal’s global board last month, led by CEO Nicolas Hieronimus.
The company, which owns iconic brands like Garnier, Maybelline, Kérastase, and CeraVe, already runs three large research hubs in France and regional centres in the US, Japan, China, Brazil, South Africa, and India.
India: A Strategic Growth Market
India currently accounts for just over 1% of L’Oréal’s annual sales (more than ₹41 billion), making it the firm’s 15th biggest market worldwide. The company expects the country to rank among its top 10 markets within the next few years, with annual revenue of ₹1 billion.
The establishment of a major GCC in Hyderabad signals L’Oréal’s long-term commitment to India as both a growth market and a hub for global operations.
Why Hyderabad?
GCCs are offshore hubs that run multinationals’ critical technology, analytics, operations, finance, supply-chain, and R&D work. For most companies, GCCs offer tighter control compared to outsourcing, along with access to high-quality talent at scale. India has become the world’s preferred location for GCCs due to engineering and digital talent, cost advantages, and ability to scale teams rapidly.
Hyderabad specifically offers:
- World-class infrastructure and business ecosystem
- Access to top engineering and technology talent from premier institutions
- Cost-effective operations compared to other global locations
- Government support and business-friendly policies
- Proven track record with 400+ established GCCs
Expanding Portfolio
The Hyderabad GCC will focus on global technology development, innovation, and research, complementing L’Oréal’s strategy to leverage digital transformation and AI-driven solutions in the beauty industry.
With this addition, Hyderabad continues to strengthen its position as a premier destination for multinational corporations seeking to establish strategic operations in India, spanning diverse sectors from technology and pharmaceuticals to consumer goods and beauty.
