Maize Seeds Distributed to Farmers at Agricultural Research Center

In Nagar Kurnool district, a special program took place at the Palem Agricultural Research Center in Bijnapally Mandal. The event was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in partnership with the All India Maize Research Institute and the Maize Research Center in Rajendranagar, Hyderabad. The purpose of the program was to distribute high-yielding DHM 17 maize seeds to farmers.

Dr. T. Prabhakar Reddy, the KVK Coordinator, spoke at the event. He mentioned that the current market conditions are favorable for maize cultivation. He encouraged farmers to select quality seeds, such as DHM 17, and practice good farming techniques to get better harvests.

Agricultural Scientist Dr. Samatha Parameshwari also shared important information. She explained that the All India Maize Research Institute and the Maize Research Center are working together to increase the area where maize is grown. As part of this effort, DHM 17 seeds are being given to farmers for free. Each farmer will receive 8 kg of seeds for every acre they plan to cultivate.

Farmers from several villages, including Parvatapur, Vasantapur, and Khanapur, along with KVK scientists from Palem, participated in the event.
