Hyderabad: The Marwari community in Hyderabad is seeking help from the state Director General of Police (DGP) due to a campaign called “Marwari Go Back” started by some groups. They want action against hate speech and provocative actions.
Anirudh Gupta, who leads the Telangana Agarwal Samaj, urged the DGP to act quickly against these hostile actions targeting the Marwari community in Amangal. He reported that members of their community experienced threats and aggressive slogans like “Marwari Culture Go Back” in Monda market, which scared local business owners and residents.
Similar hate speech incidents against the Marwari community were reported in Amangal, Rangareddy District. Gupta expressed concern about videos of these events being shared widely on social media platforms such as YouTube. These videos aim to spread hate and provoke reactions. He highlighted that the Marwari and Agarwal communities have been vital to Telangana’s growth for over a hundred years, contributing to business and industry.
Gupta mentioned the community’s charitable work, including hospitals, schools, and homes for the elderly. He condemned the “Go Back” campaigns as attacks on both the community and the inclusive spirit of Telangana.
He warned that ignoring these actions could hurt the state’s image as a safe place for business, affecting local and international investment. Gupta called for identifying those responsible and taking strict legal measures against them under the IPC and IT Act for inciting violence and promoting hostility.
