Hyderabad is taking major steps toward making city roads safer and more convenient for both pedestrians and drivers. The Cyberabad Police, in partnership with the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) and the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC), held a key meeting to tackle traffic issues and boost urban mobility.
The meeting, called ‘Safer, Smarter Urban Mobility’, took place at the Mini Conference Hall inside the Cyberabad Commissioner’s Office on Thursday. Officials discussed practical ways to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety throughout the Cyberabad region.
Dr. Gajarao Bhupal, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), thanked all participants for their ongoing support in building safer roads. He emphasized the need for collaboration to bring real improvements to the area’s traffic system.
TGIIC Managing Director Dr. Vishnuvardhan Reddy highlighted several challenges and solutions identified for the region. One big change includes redesigning intersections. Current sharp 90-degree turns in areas like Financial District, Knowledge City, Knowledge Park, and T-Hub will shift to smoother 45-degree turns. This move aims to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow.
To protect pedestrians, the city plans to build underpasses and foot-over bridges (FOBs) at busy junctions such as Gachibowli and near IKEA. These structures will offer safer crossing options for people on foot.
Footpaths across key zones like T-Hub, Sattva, and My Home will also get a makeover. The goal is to create wider, obstacle-free sidewalks that support steady and secure pedestrian movement.
Other improvements discussed during the meeting include:
– Setting up designated parking spots for buses and cabs in Raidurgam
– Creating a temporary bus parking bay near Commerzone, using an unused road across from Qualcomm
– Developing a skywalk and parking area near the IKEA junction
– Relocating a vendor street to a new spot close to the Commerzone turn
– Widening roads from Sattva Knowledge Capital to Hyatt, and from Hyatt to Wave Rock, all within the Financial District
The event brought together key figures such as DCP Traffic Madhapur Sai Manohar, SCSC CEO Naved Alam Khan, real estate developers, industry leaders, and senior officers including ACPs and SHOs from the Cyberabad Traffic Police.
These efforts are part of a broader mission to create a smarter, safer, and more efficient transportation system for one of Hyderabad’s fastest-growing tech and business hubs.
