MEIL secures 2,000 MW project in Karnataka

Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL) announced that they won a contract for a 2,000-MW Sharavathi pumped storage power project in Karnataka, costing Rs 8,000 crore. This project aims to address the power shortage in Karnataka by utilizing the hydroelectric power from the Sharavathi river.

The Sharavathi river is an important source of hydroelectric power in Karnataka. The planned power generation capacity of this project is 2,000 MW, making it the largest pump storage power generation unit in the country. Karnataka is investing over Rs 8,000 crore in this project to meet its energy needs.

MEIL’s statement highlighted the significance of the Sharavathi pumped storage power project in solving the power crisis in Karnataka. The company emphasized the importance of utilizing the region’s natural resources to generate sustainable energy for the state.
