The Minister for Civil Supplies, Gangula Kamalakar, asked the Fair Price Shop (FPS) dealers to cancel their planned strike. He said that the government is willing to talk with them and fix their issues. The Minister had a meeting with the Civil Supplies Commissioner and other officials to discuss rice distribution through FPS in Telangana. The FPS dealers requested the government to address their long-standing demands. The government has already had meetings with the dealers’ associations, and officials are working towards addressing their demands as soon as possible. The Minister announced that the department will hold talks with the dealers’ associations on May 22 and requested the dealers to cancel their strike. He further informed that there are 17,220 Fair Price Shops in Telangana, and the government spends approximately Rs.3,580 crores every year for rice and other provisions distribution through FPS, giving over Rs. 12 crores commission to the ration dealers.
