Hyderabad: Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy has asked officials to find roads that haven’t been developed in the past ten years and are causing trouble for people. He said these roads should be improved using the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM).
The Minister held a meeting with top officials from the Roads and Buildings Department at the BR Ambedkar Secretariat on Monday. He told them to speed up the process of building roads under the HAM method. He shared that in Phase-1, 5,189 kilometers of roads have already been identified, and asked consultants to prepare detailed cost estimates for the next steps.
Later, the Minister met with senior officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). He instructed them to quickly pay compensation to farmers who lost their land for the construction of the Northern part of the Regional Ring Road (RRR). He also told them to prepare proposals for the National Highway Plan for 2025-26.
Minister Komatireddy said that after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy returns from his foreign trip, a full review of the HAM road projects will be done. Once the cabinet gives its approval, work on the roads will begin. The Minister added that the goal of the government is to build safe, pothole-free roads and improve connections between rural and urban areas.
