Hyderabad: A final-year student at GITAM School of Technology, Hyderabad, has come up with an impressive invention aimed at helping farmers. Amoolya C, who studies Electronics and Communication Engineering, led a team to create an AI-powered robot that can remove weeds from farms on its own.
This project, part of their final-year Capstone Project, is called “AI-Powered Autonomous Weeding Robot for Smart Farming.” The robot uses artificial intelligence to tell the difference between crops and weeds. It carefully removes the weeds without damaging the crops. This reduces the need for harmful chemicals like herbicides and cuts down on the amount of manual labor needed on farms.
The team has plans to improve the robot further. Future upgrades may include adding GPS technology, using solar power to run the robot, and training it to work with more types of crops grown in different regions.
