Minor administrative shake-up in Hyderabad appoints new special commissioner for I&PR.

The government in Hyderabad has made some small administrative changes ahead of the upcoming elections and the new Secretariat building inauguration. They have appointed K Ashok Reddy, a 2014 batch IAS officer, as Special Commissioner for Information and Public Relations and Ex. Officio Special Chief Secretary to the government. The previous Special Secretary, Arvind Kumar, has been relieved from his duties.

Ashok Reddy has been working as the Officer on Special Duty to State Finance and Medical and Health minister T Harish Rao. He became a Group-1 officer in the state services in the 1990s and has held various positions in the State Cooperation department. Since 2014, he has been working closely with Minister Harish Rao, helping to run his office at the Secretariat level.

Ashok Reddy is responsible for handling important files related to policy decisions made by the minister and coordinating with the Chief Minister’s Office for quick administrative decisions. He was one of five Group-I officers from Telangana who were recently conferred IAS by the Department of Personnel and Training in New Delhi.
