Wanaparthy MLA Thudi Megha Reddy announced on Thursday that his constituency has submitted proposals worth ₹1,323 crore to improve the local irrigation system.
During a special review meeting with officials from the Irrigation Department, the MLA outlined plans to upgrade and repair key water infrastructure. These include reservoirs, canals, lift irrigation systems, and other related structures. He asked the officials to create detailed reports for each proposed project.
Some of the major projects in the plan are the Gollapalli reservoir, Buddaram online reservoir, and the Karne Thanda and Kashinagar lift systems. The proposals also include work on the KLI, D5, and D8 canals, strengthening both the right and left Buddaram canals, and improving the Ganapuram branch canal and distributary systems.
The MLA stressed the importance of collecting full technical details before moving forward. He also urged the officials to focus on urgent repairs and construction of tanks, ponds, and check dams, especially with the summer season approaching and water demand rising.
Top irrigation officials, including Chief Engineer Satyanarayana Reddy, Superintending Engineer Srinivas Reddy, and Deputy Chief Engineer Venkat Reddy, were present at the meeting. Other engineers such as Keshava Rao, Jaganmohan Reddy, Narender Reddy, Abdul Ghaffar, Venkataramanadevi, Raj Kumar, Kiran Kumar, and Ellaswami also took part in the discussions.
The initiative aims to boost agricultural productivity and ensure better water management across Wanaparthy.
