Nagarkurnool: Dr. K Rajesh Reddy, the local MLA, officially opened a new paddy procurement centre in Peddamudunur village, located in Nagarkurnool Mandal. This centre was set up under the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS) to support local farmers during the Yasangi season.
During the event on Friday, Dr. Reddy explained how this new centre will directly benefit farmers. They can now sell their paddy locally without having to travel long distances. This not only cuts down on transportation costs but also removes middlemen, ensuring farmers keep more of their earnings.
The MLA highlighted the importance of the Minimum Support Price (MSP). He said the government is buying the crops at MSP to guarantee farmers a fair income. Officials assured him that proper systems are in place for transparent payments based on the exact quantity of paddy sold.
Dr. Reddy reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to farmers’ welfare. He said this new infrastructure will help strengthen rural agriculture by offering stable and fair prices for crops. These procurement centres are a step toward boosting farmers’ income and improving their livelihoods.
The launch event saw the presence of Market Committee Chairman Ramana Rao, local Congress leaders, farmers, youth, and other community members who welcomed the initiative.
