Wanaparthy, Telangana – District Collector Adarsh Surabhi held a review meeting on Friday to assess the progress of the Indiramma housing scheme. He spoke with tahsildars, MPDOs, MEOs, and Municipal Commissioners, urging them to make sure all construction work is finished by May 10.
The Indiramma housing project began as a pilot program on January 26, selecting one village per mandal and approving 1,300 houses for low-income families. However, only 414 beneficiaries have begun building so far.
Among those, just 94 homes have reached the basement level, and only 54 beneficiaries have received their first installment payment.
Collector Surabhi directed officials to hold a meeting on Saturday with those who haven’t started construction. If any beneficiary no longer wishes to build the house, they must submit a written explanation. Their allotment will then be reassigned to other poor families who are still in need.
He also reminded beneficiaries that the houses should be built within 600 square feet. If anyone has begun constructing a larger home, officials must convince them to reduce the size. If they refuse, their housing approval under the Indiramma scheme will be cancelled.
Discussing the second phase, Surabhi said that officials must upload the list of verified beneficiaries using the collector’s login portal. These lists must be based on reports from Indiramma Committees and verified by assigned officers.
In many mandals and municipalities, special officers have already checked and finalized the lists. Once approved, beneficiary orders will be issued with the consent of the in-charge minister.
The meeting was also attended by Additional Collector Yadayya (in charge of local bodies) and Housing Project Director Parvathalu.
