Wanaparthy: The 118th birth anniversary of Babu Jagjivan Ram, a freedom fighter, social reformer, and former Deputy Prime Minister, was celebrated on Saturday at the District Collectorate meeting hall. The event was organized by the District Scheduled Castes Development Department.
Wanaparthy MLA Thudi Megha Reddy attended the event as the chief guest, along with District Collector Adarsh Surabhi and Superintendent of Police Giridhar Raoula. They paid floral tributes to Babu Jagjivan Ram’s portrait.
Speaking at the event, the MLA said that Babu Jagjivan Ram’s life is an inspiration and encouraged young people to follow his values and principles.
He also announced that the Ambedkar Town Hall would be inaugurated soon in the district. Additionally, plans are being made to construct buildings named after Babu Jagjivan Ram and Dr B.R. Ambedkar.
Several leaders at the event requested that Babu Jagjivan Ram be given the Bharat Ratna award posthumously. Cultural performances and songs by local artists added color and energy to the celebration.
