New Chief of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) appointed as Ravi Sinha

Ravi Sinha is now the new chief of India’s intelligence agency called Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). He is a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 1988 batch and was named as the new chief on June 19. Sinha is currently serving as Special Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat and is from the Chhattisgarh cadre. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved his appointment and he will lead RAW for two years.

Sinha will replace the current RAW chief Samant Goel, who will retire on June 30. On the same day, Goel will become the head of India’s external intelligence agency.
