A new initiative has been launched to help those who pass the Civil Services Preliminary exams in 39 districts where coal companies operate. The initiative, called NIRMAN, will provide Rs 1 lakh to candidates who qualify the Preliminary exam and belong to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, women, or the third gender with an annual income of less than 8 lakh. The candidates must be permanent residents of any of the 39 operational districts of Coal India Ltd.

The portal was launched by Union Minister of Coal G Kishan Reddy along with Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey, secretary (Coal) Amrit Lal Meena, and other ministry officials and CMDs of coal companies. Reddy mentioned that this CSR scheme is aimed at supporting qualified youth from the operational districts who cleared the Preliminary round of the UPSC examination in 2024.

Coal India Ltd, a Maharatna Company under the Ministry of Coal, is committed to promoting education in coal-bearing areas. The company has been involved in various initiatives to help deserving and underprivileged children from these areas secure admissions in reputed professional institutes.

Overall, the goal is to achieve ‘Viksit Bharat’ through inclusive development efforts. Coal India Ltd and its subsidiaries are working towards this goal by providing educational support to students from coal-bearing areas and promoting social responsibility as a corporate entity.
