The race for incentives is getting intense as the election campaign heats up. The Congress party is trying to win power in Telangana by offering a special deal for those getting married. They plan to give newly-weds ten grams of gold, Rs 1 lakh in cash, and a gift box with utensils. This offer will be announced by Priyanka Gandhi during the Bathukamma festival, which takes place from October 14 to October 23.
The Congress party believes that this offer will be more appealing than the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme implemented by the BRS, which provides Rs 1.06 lakh. According to Congress, their scheme will benefit newly-weds with Rs 2 lakh.
To attract women voters, the Congress party has already announced free bus travel, double the DWACRA loan amount for Self-Help Groups, and free medical check-ups in corporate hospitals. They hope that these schemes will win the support of at least 70 percent of women voters.
The Manifesto Committee will send the draft women declaration to Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and AICC Chief Mallikarjuna Kharge for final approval. The party high command will also provide suggestions to refine the declaration before it is announced. The declaration will include promoting women entrepreneurs and providing political opportunities at the local level.
