Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader G Niranjan has taken charge as the chairman of the BC (Backward Classes) Commission. He was joined by commission members Ropulu Jayaprakash, T Surender, and Balalakshmi. The event took place at the Commission’s office in Khairatabad on Monday.
The BC Commission has been set up to determine reservations for backward class communities in local bodies. This will be done after calculating the percentage of these communities in the population.
Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, who attended the event, said this is an important step towards achieving social justice for the BCs. He emphasized that only the Congress party has been able to organize a census of the community.
Other notable attendees included M Kodanda Reddy, chairman of the State Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Commission, and former MP V Hanumantha Rao.
