NT Rama Rao statue unveiled by Assembly Speaker in Hyderabad

On Wednesday, Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy unveiled a statue of NT Rama Rao, a famous actor and former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, at Bahadurpally cross roads in Quthbullapur Assembly constituency. The Speaker spoke about how NT Rama Rao was a great person and would always be remembered.

Pocharam Srinivas Reddy explained that he began his career in politics with the help of NT Rama Rao and learned many important values from the former chief minister, such as discipline, hard work, and moral values. He also talked about how NT Rama Rao believed that politics was about serving the public, not making money.

NT Rama Rao was able to take power quickly after forming the Telugu Desam Party in 1983. As chief minister, he introduced many important programs, such as providing rice for Rs.2 per kg, Janata clothes, permanent houses for the poor, and a slab rate system for agriculture motor pumpsets.

The Speaker said that the current Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was following in NT Rama Rao’s footsteps and the state had been making progress under his leadership for the last nine years. Local MLA KP Vivekananda and other leaders were present at the unveiling of the statue.
