Officer Returns 52 Recovered Phones, Advises Public to Use CEIR for Lost Devices

Jogulamba Gadwal: The District Superintendent of Police, Sri T. Srinivasa Rao, IPS, urges people not to worry if they lose their mobile phones. Instead, he advises them to file a complaint on the CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) Portal. He promises that the police will act quickly to find and return lost or stolen phones.

Recently, SP T. Srinivasa Rao returned 52 found phones to their owners. He highlighted the importance of staying alert and not being careless, even though losing a phone shouldn’t cause panic.

Special teams are now in place at each district police station to handle phone loss and theft cases. This year, 853 complaints were filed on the CEIR portal, and 413 phones were located. Out of these, 260 phones have been successfully returned to their owners.

To tackle rising phone thefts, the Department of Telecommunications introduced the CEIR portal. This system is effective in recovering lost phones. The SP encourages people to block their stolen phones on the CEIR portal (https://www.ceir.gov.in) and report to the nearest police station.
