Hyderabad: Six people were arrested for selling fake toddy at a licensed shop in Kukatpally. The state Excise and Prohibition Department has started an initial investigation into toddy adulteration, which has resulted in six deaths this week.

The Excise team discovered that local officials were not regularly checking toddy shops. This oversight might have contributed to the recent tragedy. Officials noted that there was also a lack of strict control over the chemicals mixed with toddy. The final report will reveal the details of this adulteration scheme, and strong measures will be taken based on the findings. The involvement of toddy shop owners in the adulteration will be confirmed after reviewing the reports and interviewing them. Adulterating toddy is considered a serious crime.
