Hyderabad: Research truly fulfills its purpose only when it leads to the creation of technologies that cater to the needs of society, said Professor Kumar Molugaram, Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University. He shared this insight during a six-day conference organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at OU College of Engineering on Monday.

The conference underscored the immense potential of fostering collaboration between educational institutions and industries. Such partnerships, it was noted, can drive innovation and generate large-scale employment opportunities across the country.

Professor Kumar pointed out that while India produces nearly 12 lakh engineers every year, only 20 percent manage to secure jobs. This, he explained, is due to a lack of sustainable skills and industry-specific awareness among graduates.

He also emphasized the urgent need to bridge the gap between academia and industry. Speaking on the theme of the conference, “Recent Trends in Semiconductor IC Design in the Indian Perspective,” he highlighted the transformative advancements in telecommunications over the past four decades.
