Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Traffic Police intensified their efforts against drunk driving, catching 305 offenders during weekend night checks across various locations in the Cyberabad area. This initiative involved special teams focusing on reducing incidents of driving under the influence.
Out of the 305 individuals caught, 242 were on two-wheelers, 16 on three-wheelers, and 47 in four-wheelers. The police noted that 25 violators had blood alcohol levels between 200 mg/100 ml and 550 mg/100 ml. The Miyapur zone had the most cases with 52, followed by Balanagar and Chevella, each with 30, and Shamshabad with 28. Most offenders were aged 31-40, totaling 116, while 92 were aged 21-30, and 74 were between 41-50. All offenders will appear in court.
In a similar initiative, the Hyderabad police reported catching 1,025 offenders for drunk driving from May 24 to 30. Out of these, 846 were two-wheeler riders, 44 were on three-wheelers, 134 were in cars, and 1 was driving a heavy vehicle. Among them, 46 individuals had blood alcohol levels exceeding 200 mg/100 ml. Thirteen offenders were between 18-20 years old. The highest number of offenders, 435, were in the 21-30 age group, followed by 338 in the 31-40 range, and 166 between 41-50. As a result, 44 people received jail sentences.
