Hyderabad – With the ongoing expansion work at Secunderabad Railway Station, the South Central Railway (SCR) is now running most of its summer special trains from Charlapalli Terminal Station. This shift is causing concerns among daily commuters and rail passengers.
Many passengers say the changes have made travel harder, especially since Charlapalli lacks enough public transport, especially late at night. People traveling on late-night trains are finding it difficult to reach home due to poor connectivity.
Local commuters and members of the Suburban Train and Bus Travellers Association have urged SCR officials to improve the situation. They’ve asked for more MMTS trains to operate from Charlapalli and for some trains to stop at nearby stations like Dayanand Nagar East (RK Nagar) and Malkajgiri Junction.
Noor, the General Secretary of the association, voiced his frustration. He said they’ve raised these concerns many times, but there has been no action. He acknowledged that rerouting trains to Charlapalli is a good step for smoother rail operations, but the terminal’s lack of proper transport options continues to trouble passengers.
He emphasized the need for MMTS connections from Charlapalli to improve access to other parts of the city. These local trains could ease the burden on passengers and make the terminal more accessible.
Another passenger, Suresh, suggested that trains from Nalgonda and Kazipet heading toward Nizamabad should stop at RK Nagar. This would let commuters get off closer to their destinations and use local transport or personal vehicles to continue their journey.
He also pointed out that electrification work at Charlapalli’s platforms and station buildings seems finished. While waiting for full services to begin, he proposed that some trains from Lingampalli, Secunderabad, and Hyderabad be rerouted via Malkajgiri, with designated stops there.
Although recent coordination meetings with divisional officers have improved train punctuality, passengers say that’s not enough. They want better planning, more local train options, and timely halts at convenient stations.
As more long-distance and special trains operate from Charlapalli, the demand for stronger last-mile connectivity grows louder. Passengers hope that SCR will act soon to make travel smoother and more comfortable for everyone.
