Anirudh Dhannayak, a talented photographer from Karimnagar, Telangana, has achieved international acclaim. His work was recently displayed at the Coca-Cola global headquarters in Atlanta during the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month.
The exhibition was themed “Roots to Resonance” and highlighted artists focusing on identity, heritage, and cultural connections within the diaspora.
Anirudh’s interest in photography began in childhood with a basic camera for capturing travel moments. Over time, this hobby grew into a deep passion for exploring truth, culture, and emotions through his art.
Although he initially pursued engineering, a pivotal moment occurred at a family wedding. His photos received praise from international guests, confirming his talent and providing him with a camera that would shape his future.
Anirudh formalized his skills with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Design with a focus on Photography. He is now advancing his studies with a Master’s at the Savannah College of Art and Design in the US.
His current project, “Natya Shastra: The Science of Dance,” examines the development and spiritual importance of Kuchipudi, a classical Indian dance, among the Indian-American community. By incorporating traditional elements with innovative techniques like stop-motion and moving portraits, Anirudh demonstrates his dedication to storytelling that connects different times and places.
