Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially open three newly upgraded railway stations in Telangana on Thursday via video conference. The stations are located in Begumpet, Karimnagar, and Warangal.
These upgrades are part of the larger Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, an initiative by Indian Railways to modernize and improve 40 railway stations across the country. Each of the three Telangana stations has been redeveloped with a budget of around ₹25 crore. The goal is to enhance passenger comfort while showcasing each location’s unique culture and heritage.
Begumpet railway station is notable for being the first in the South Central Railway (SCR) zone to be fully operated by women. Along with Karimnagar and Warangal, it now features improved passenger facilities, modern design, and better accessibility.
A senior SCR official explained that the redevelopment focuses on separating passenger arrivals and departures to reduce congestion. The stations now offer better road connections, easier city access, and more parking spaces, including underground options. The design also supports future integration with other transport systems, making travel smoother and more efficient.
During the virtual launch, government leaders will attend events at the respective stations. Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy will be present at Begumpet. Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Minister of State for Home Affairs, will join the celebrations in Karimnagar. MP Eatala Rajender will represent the government at Warangal.
These station upgrades mark a major step in Telangana’s rail infrastructure development and aim to improve the overall travel experience for thousands of passengers every day.
