Hyderabad: Police in Cyberabad have arrested a 21-year-old woman for her role in several house burglaries. They managed to recover stolen items valued at Rs 2.21 lakh.
The woman, identified as Baby Arohi, was previously a salesgirl. She lived in Sanathnagar and originally came from Gorakhpur District, Uttar Pradesh. Arohi had been involved in two prior burglary cases in Borabanda and had served time in Chanchalguda jail. She was released on bail on June 28.
On July 18, a man named Vipparthi Chiranjeevi from Allwyn Colony, Jagadgirigutta reported a theft. He stated that someone had broken into his home by using a key hidden under a helmet on the shoe rack. The thief took gold ornaments and silver anklets from an almirah, with the total value being Rs 2,21,000.
Investigators from the Jagadgirigutta crime team and CCS Balanagar reviewed CCTV footage. They noticed a woman behaving suspiciously while carrying a bag. Her image was shared with nearby police stations, leading to her arrest.
During questioning, Arohi confessed to her methods. She had worked as a door-to-door saleswoman, noticing that many homes kept spare keys in visible places like shoe racks or under plants. On July 18, she visited Allwyn Colony, found Chiranjeevi’s house locked, and located the key under the helmet. She unlocked the door, accessed the bedroom, found the almirah key on a shelf, and stole the valuables. Arohi is now in judicial custody.
