Hyderabad – Police in Balanagar have arrested a 25-year-old man, Robinson D-Cornel, for sexually assaulting a minor girl. Officers say he used a fake love story to lure the child, then took her to Visakhapatnam, where he raped her.
Robinson, who runs a catering business, met the girl in April 2023 when she was just 11 years old and had finished Class V. She was playing near her home in Vinayak Nagar, Balanagar, when Robinson approached her and started talking to her regularly. Over time, he gained her trust with compliments and friendly conversations.
As their interactions continued, Robinson secretly used a neighbor to pass on his messages and arrange phone calls with the girl. He manipulated her emotions, pretending to be in love, and convinced her to run away with him. He told her to take cash from her home so they could enjoy a holiday together.
According to DCP K Suresh Kumar, on May 22, 2023, around 8 p.m., Robinson told the girl to leave her house at 1 a.m. with money, clothes, and her mother’s mobile phone. She followed his instructions, packing her school bag and taking ₹30,000 from her mother’s savings.
At 2 a.m., Robinson picked her up and took her to Secunderabad railway station. They boarded a train to Visakhapatnam. Once there, he took her to a house where an unknown older man was also present. The girl was held there for two days. During that time, Robinson raped her twice, causing injuries and bleeding.
On May 29, he brought her back to Secunderabad. At the station, he left her alone, claiming he was going to get water, but he never returned. The girl borrowed a phone from a stranger and called her father, who came immediately to rescue her. The family then reported the crime to the police.
For nearly two years, investigators worked to trace Robinson. They used Call Detail Record (CDR) analysis of his family’s phones to track him down. On Wednesday at 8 p.m., police finally arrested him while he was visiting his grandmother in a Secunderabad hospital.
Robinson is now in custody, and the case continues under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.
