Adilabad: Police have arrested a man for creating a fake Instagram account and using it to damage a woman’s reputation.
According to Utnoor ASP Kajal Singh, the arrest followed a complaint from a woman living in Gudihathnoor Mandal. She reported that someone had made a fake Instagram profile using her sister’s name. This fake account led to gossip and defamation from relatives and friends.
The Adilabad SHE Team quickly took action. With the help of technical tools, they tracked down the culprit. The accused, Turath Gopal, is the son of a resident from Tirupati Lingapur village. Police located and arrested him without delay.
A case has been officially registered at the Gudihathnoor Police Station. It carries the crime number 88/25 and includes charges under Section 78 of the BNS and Section 66-D of the IT Act, which deal with online fraud and harassment.
ASP Kajal Singh urged women to speak up if they face any form of harassment, whether online or in public spaces. She encouraged victims to reach out to the Adilabad SHE Team for support and quick action.
