Police arrest two for mobile theft, recover 28 phones worth Rs 4.5 lakh

Hyderabad police have arrested two people for stealing mobile phones. The police recovered 28 stolen phones worth ₹4.5 lakhs from them.

The suspects, Katta Naveen and Vittala Raju, were involved in five theft cases in SR Nagar, Dundigal, and Medchal areas.

On Friday, the Crime team of SR Nagar police caught them near Mythrivanam Bus Stop in SR Nagar. They were moving suspiciously when the police stopped them.

According to the police, Naveen would look for hostels without security. At night, when everyone was asleep, he would enter the rooms and steal mobile phones. He then sold the stolen phones to Raju.

For the last three months, Naveen had been targeting hostels and bachelor rooms. The police seized 28 mobile phones from them. Out of these, 25 have been linked to different theft cases in Hyderabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts. The owners of the remaining three phones are yet to be identified, and police are working to trace them.
