Hyderabad: The attack on Vikarabad District Collector Prateek Jain and other officials by villagers in Lagacharla has taken several unexpected turns. Investigators have intensified their efforts to uncover any possible involvement of BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) working president, KT Rama Rao, in the incident.

A police team visited Lagacharla village on Thursday to begin their investigation. During this time, BRS leader P. Narender Reddy, who was arrested, created a stir by submitting an affidavit from jail. In his affidavit, he claimed that the confession attributed to him by the police was false. According to Reddy, he did not admit to the things the police had included in their report.

Meanwhile, the police, who believe they have evidence against Narender Reddy, revisited the Parigi police station. They interviewed the villagers for over two hours. The investigation was led by top officials, including Additional Director General of Police Mahesh Bhagwat, Inspector General Satyanarayana, and Vikarabad Superintendent of Police Narayana Reddy.

The police questioned the villagers to understand the events that led to the violent attack on officials during a gram sabha meeting. The meeting was originally held to discuss the acquisition of land for a pharma city project. The authorities are trying to determine who was responsible for inciting the violence and whether any BRS leaders played a role in encouraging the villagers to attack.

The investigation also focused on phone call records, the nature of interactions between BRS leaders and villagers before the gram sabha, and the movement of BRS leaders in the village in the week leading up to the incident.

Police claim that Narender Reddy was the key figure in provoking the violence, allegedly acting under the instructions of BRS working president KT Rama Rao. Officials are expected to release more information in the next two days. Additionally, the role of over 20 villagers who were arrested is also being closely examined.
