Tensions erupted in Shaikpet division during polling hours when police resorted to lathi-charge against BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) leaders who were protesting against alleged bogus voting. The incident occurred with just one hour remaining before polling was scheduled to end.
According to reports, BRS party workers identified suspected bogus voters at polling stations in the division and immediately raised concerns with election officials present at the venue. When their complaints allegedly went unaddressed, the party leaders staged a protest at the polling booth.
The situation escalated when police personnel intervened and used force to disperse the protesting BRS leaders. Several party workers reportedly sustained injuries during the lathi-charge.
BRS leaders have accused the Congress party of orchestrating large-scale bogus voting in the Shaikpet division. They claimed that fake voters were being brought in systematically to cast votes, particularly during the final hours of polling.
The party alleged that despite presenting evidence of suspicious voting patterns to polling officials, no immediate action was taken to verify the authenticity of the voters in question. This inaction, they claimed, forced them to stage a demonstration at the polling station.
