Hyderabad, Oct. 31: The political atmosphere in Jubilee Hills has turned unpredictable ahead of the crucial by-election, as parties realign in surprising ways and traditional equations begin to blur. What was once seen as a straightforward Congress vs BRS battle has now evolved into a complex multi-party contest — with the AIMIM’s shifting stance, Congress’ tactical moves, and the BJP’s unusual silence all adding new dimensions to the race.
On the ground, it’s primarily Congress vs BRS, but Congress seems to have officially teamed up with AIMIM to consolidate minority votes. This alliance, however, has sparked confusion among voters and political observers. The AIMIM, which supported BRS in the 2023 Assembly elections, is now campaigning against it — a striking reversal of strategy. Interestingly, AIMIM did not field a candidate against Naveen Yadav, but did contest against Congress’s Azharuddin, securing around 7,800 votes in the 2023 elections — a number significant enough to influence the final result.
Now, the same AIMIM is campaigning against Congress and RJD in Bihar is seen siding with Congress in the Jubilee Hills bypoll, raising questions about its political consistency. Experts say the move reflects AIMIM’s local interest in keeping a foothold among the minority voters in Hyderabad rather than following a national ideological line.
Meanwhile, the BJP has chosen a quieter strategy, despite the fact that its 2023 candidate, who secured 25,000 votes, is contesting again. Insiders believe this silence is deliberate. Political analysts suggest that if Congress manages to win Jubilee Hills, it could weaken the regional BRS and pave the way for the BJP’s expansion in Telangana ahead of the 2027 Assembly Elections.
The AIMIM’s aggressive campaign for Naveen Yadav could, however, backfire on Congress by splitting Hindu votes, benefiting both BRS and BJP. With only a few days left for polling, the situation remains fluid and tense — each day bringing a new twist in the high-stakes battle for Jubilee Hills, one of Hyderabad’s most politically symbolic constituencies.
As campaigning intensifies, all eyes are on whether Congress’s alliance gamble, BRS’s grassroots strength, or BJP’s silent buildup will determine the final outcome, making Jubilee Hills the most closely watched electoral micro-battle in Telangana’s current political landscape.
