Khammam: On Wednesday, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy handed out approval letters to beneficiaries of the Indiramma Housing Scheme in the Edulapuram Municipality. District Collector Muzammil Khan and Police Commissioner Sunil Dutt joined him in the event.
Minister Ponguleti expressed his deep emotion, stating he was nearly brought to tears by the happiness of those receiving their documents. He noted the overwhelming positive response from the recipients.
He criticized previous leaders for focusing on MLA residences and government buildings while neglecting housing for the poor. He highlighted the neglect of the poor’s dream of owning a home.
The minister announced that the government has dedicated Rs 22,500 crore this year to help the poor achieve homeownership, despite financial challenges. The priority is to provide homes first to those living in huts.
This distribution marks just the beginning, as the first phase of housing. Indiramma houses will continue to be allocated annually.
In total, 520 people in Yedulapuram Municipality received their documents. Ponguleti assured that more eligible individuals would receive homes soon.
