Husnabad MLA and former MP from Karimnagar, Ponnam Prabhakar, is a member of the Goud community. He is known for his activism during the Telangana movement and for being attacked with pepper spray by fellow Parliamentarians.
Prabhakar, a seasoned politician with over three decades of public service, was sworn in as a minister in the new Telangana government. He started his political career as a student leader and held various positions within the NSUI, including State President.
In 2009, Prabhakar achieved a significant victory as a Member of Parliament from Karimnagar. However, he faced defeat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and the 2018 Assembly elections. Despite these setbacks, he remained dedicated to serving the people and advocating for BCs. His resilience paid off in the 2023 Assembly elections when he won from the Husnabad constituency.
