Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of opposing free bus rides for women. He criticized Modi’s statement that the scheme was just a tactic to win elections, saying the Prime Minister couldn’t accept women getting free bus travel.

Prabhakar defended the free bus travel initiative as a way to help improve women’s economic status in some states. He urged Modi to stop making negative comments about the program. The Minister clarified that providing free bus rides for women in RTC buses was unrelated to any financial losses in the Metro Rail system.

Despite their efforts to communicate with the Prime Minister about increasing Metro Rail capacity, there has been no response. Prabhakar assured that the Congress government in Telangana fully supports the free bus scheme for women and plans to add more buses to expand the program in the future.
