Gadwal District faces public outrage as a recently constructed 5-kilometer road under the Mucchonipally Reservoir is criticized for using low-quality materials. Macherla Prakash, the District President of the All India Ambedkar Yuvajana Sangham, claims the road is made with a thin layer of bitumen, suggesting corruption and negligence.
Prakash demands accountability from the contractor and officials responsible for overseeing the construction. He highlights a recurring issue of poor-quality roads in the Gadwal constituency, accusing systemic corruption and misuse of public funds.
He calls on the District Collector for immediate action against those involved. A formal complaint is planned for submission during the public grievance meeting, Praja Vani.
Protest participants included Puttaprasad, Krupakar, and Mark Praveen. The public is concerned about the road’s poor condition, which affects commuters, farmers, schoolchildren, and emergency services, especially during monsoons.
Prakash insists on an independent audit of the road and demands that future projects meet government standards. He warns of a public mobilization if no action is taken promptly.
The issue arises as the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government faces pressure to maintain transparency. Public dissatisfaction, if unresolved, could undermine the government’s credibility in rural development.
The allegations require a thorough investigation to ensure accountability and regain public trust. The district administration has not yet responded, and further updates are awaited.
