Telangana’s agriculture sector is facing issues due to power disruptions. Farmers in various districts are complaining about unpredictable power supply, especially during the important Yasangi season. The power outages last for four to five hours and mostly happen in the evenings.

One farmer, Tirupati Goud from Nagaram, mentioned that there is no fixed schedule for the power cuts. They can start at 5 pm and continue until 10 pm or even later. This inconsistency is causing worry among farmers as it affects the agricultural sector, although the domestic sector has not raised any concerns yet.

With just over a month since paddy transplantation and 60 to 80 days until harvest, farmers are anxious about the impact of these power outages on their yield. Alongside power disruptions and water scarcity for irrigation, farmers are also troubled by rising input costs due to pest infestations. In the Dubbak mandal of Siddipet, farmers in villages like Nagaram and Pothireddypet fear falling into debt traps this year due to increased costs and frequent power outages.
